About Your CounsellorDonna gained her European Diploma in Theraputic Counselling in 2002 and has successfully completed her degree and working towards her accreditation with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) Her approach is integrative, which means she can draw on a wide variety of methods and techniques to suit the individual. Her main counselling experience has been in depression, relationship problems, womans issues and with young people. Donna works within the ethical frameworkof BACP and has regular supervision in accordance with their guidelines. Sharing your difficulties with someone uninvolved in the rest of your life can help to create a safe space to explore your problems, helping you to understand how your life experiences and current behaviour may be linked. |

Shouldn't I be able to cope on my own...? Often we grow up believing that we should cope on our own, but sharing your feelings can often help your reelationship and your sense of well being. If I need counselling. Does that mean I'm mentally ill...? Not at all. Seeking help is a sign of strength. Talking now may help prevent your difficulties escalating. Mental well being is as important as physical health. Sometimes emotional pain can be manifested as physical symptoms such as headaches, panic attacks and other pains. Once feelings are heard and the root cause unearthed the physical symptoms often disappear.

What sort of problems can I talk about...? The most important thing is to talk about what is bothering you. Even when you don't quite know what that is or what is. Your counsellor will listen carefully and focus on you how you feel about your difficulties and help you to begin to see how you can the changes that you want in your life. Loss, bereavement, life changes, depression, relationship difficulties, anxiety, stress, sexuality, abuse, anger and frustration, feelings of inadequacy, despair and coping with illness. |
